Live 10 suddenly unusable with CPU spikes

Post by junior85 » Sun Sep 04, 2022 7:57 am

Hi folks, I've scanned through some older threads and it seems like a lot of people are having CPU spike issues.
I have a Lenovo desktop running Windows 10.

My issues started basically overnight in the first week of August.
Sessions that worked perfectly the day before now spike the CPU over 10,000%.
Why does the meter even go that high?? :D

My main soundcard is a Scarlett 8i6 Gen 3, but I tried all my other audio options and it's even worse with others.
On the MME setting, it hit 43,000%.

I've run a CHKDSK overnight on this computer to fix any potential issues, no good.
Also ran antivirus and MalwareBytes.

Edit: I've tried running simple projects I previously created too.
One with four tracks, only one of which has plugins, and two Return tracks peaks over 100% before I even press play.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated!

Soooo, after 7hrs I found the issue.

I use jBridge for some older plugins, and for some reason, the legacy mode setting got enabled.
I installed a bunch of new Plugin Alliance plugins at the start of August, I don't know if they could somehow have caused this.
I don't really have any explanation for it.

Anyway, setting disabled and now the CPU is back on Planet Earth.

It wasn't actually for long.
Within a day, my PC was doing all the same stuff again, with Ableton being the one that ground it to a halt again and again.

I tried the fixes in this video, and haven't had any trouble for a few days now.
