Beginner Question Session Clip View

Post by mrriot » Tue Sep 27, 2022 7:09 am

Hi Guys,

I just started with Ableton Live 11 and did the "how to make a beat" tutorial.

so for the drums everything is fine and working.

i also added as an instrument the basic organ bass and recorded a melody, its playing and it works.

but unless to the drums, the midi notes for the basic organ bass are not showing up in the session view in the clip view... as shown here:

when I go to the arrangement view, the clip view is now filled with the midi notes as shown here:

so my question is, what am I doing wrong here?

Sorry for this nooby question but I can't help myself here...

Cheers!

From what we can see in your screenshot, it looks like your Session clip isn't playing. So I guess you actually recorded your Organ Bass in Arrangement directly, not in Session view.
But it's hard to tell really.
FYI you can drag a clip from one view to another.
To record a clip in Session, once a track is armed you can either press the rec button of any empty clip slot, or press the Session Record button (which looks like an empty circle, as opposed to the plain circle that we're used too) in the Transport bar
