Hi,
I'm trying to run FL Studio 20 in Ableton using the VSTi version. It shows up in my VST folder and I can load it onto a channel strip just fine, but when I press the logo in the VSTi window (which should start up FL) I get the error message: "The FL Studio engine couldn't be linked, probably because another instance of it is already running, or because it hasn't been installed properly." However, I don't have standalone FL running independently, and when I do run it, it works totally fine.
For more context, I'm really only trying to use Gross Beat for its pitch shifting envelope feature. If there are any other plugins/M4L devices that can do this in a similar way, please let me know!
Specs:
macOS Monterey 12.6
Apple M1
8 GB RAM
MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020
I appreciate any input on this!

That error is clearly an internal FL error, not Live's (just saying).
Don't know how that "pitch shifting envelope feature" works, but you can try Envelope MIDI or Shaper with Shifter, or maybe Mormo's Pitch Drop (M4L).
Other effects that change pitch can be used too, with smart modulation/automation, like Delay, Echo, etc.
If you actually want the "chipmunk effect" it is probably better just to use Warp in Repitch mode.

From the OP description I'd say Shifter, with its built-in envelope follower.

Cool, thank you guys. Shifter always seems to have a sort of distortive effect where it sounds like each note is very slightly doubled. Is this true, or am I hallucinating? If I'm not, is there any way to minimize/circumvent this?

Maybe you have Delay enabled or Dry/Wet less than 100%?

Just top be sure, are you using Live 11.1 and the latest (M1 native) FL Studio version?
