Not possible to open Live 10.1.43 with Rosetta on Mac M1

Post by ELALX » Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:29 am

Hi there,
I recently had the experience of my CPU overloading and could hear the playback slowing down, plus glitches and other atifacts. Since my project is rather small (41 tracks) I went to double-check that Live was running with Rosetta, thinking the problem may have to do with this.

To my surprise, when I cleicked "get info" for the Ableton app, the get Info window did not show an "opening using Rosetta" option anymore. I'm sure it was there before?

So here are my two questions:

1. Is it possible to experience CPU overload in such a small project? and
2. Should the Ableton 'get info' dialog still show an "opening using Rosetta" option?

System is:
Mac Mini M1 (2020)
16 Gb RAM
OS Monterey 12.5
Ableton Live 10.1.43 (Education version)

Thanks for your help!!
Alex

This version is too old to offer the "open in rosetta" option. Live is "m1 compatible" since L11.1
I'm afraid you need to upgrade to L11 if you want to make full use of your m1 power. L10 isn't m1-ready.

Open in Rosetta is only available for applications that are Apple Silicon (M1) native - as Live 10 is Intel-only you wont see this option as Intel-apps always use Rosetta
Mac Studio M2 Max and MacBook Pro M1

Genelec M030; Live 11.3.x and Live 12; macOS Sonoma

UAD Apollo Twin

Ableton Push 2
