Beats warp mode and Glide/portamento in Simpler

Post by LosAngeles » Sat Nov 05, 2022 8:42 am

I’m familiar with how simpler treats glide and portamento (i.e. poly glide) in Simpler- only updating pitch at every transient or beat/time division. However, I’m curious as to why this is the case? My hypothesis is it has something to do with the warping algorithm and loop mode replaying back portions of the sample in real-time, and perhaps it’s impossible or too computationally taxing to perform a pitch glide at arbitrary points? Also, with the loop mode turned off, silence is possible before a subsequent transient or division, which makes a glide effect somewhat undefined, I suppose? Does anyone know the precise explanation, by chance?
