simpler for kicks and kick2 | Question

Post by ItsPQS » Sat Jan 07, 2023 1:05 am

I've been experimenting with kick2 recently and i'm trying to understand what its doing and how I can achieve a similar result using Ableton. What I found fascinating is If you move the time decay within kick2 the pitch envelope adjusts to the new length.

Example: If you have a kick that is 500ms the pitch envelope adjusts to that time.
If I then make the time decay 100ms the pitch envelope also adjusts with it.

If I want to try this in Ableton I drag my kick sample in simpler and use the pitch envelope. Now if I go back to the sample and make it shorter using the warp modes... Will the pitch envelope react the same way as it works in kick2? By that, I mean keeping the envelope to the size of the sample, or will I have to manually adjust the pitch envelope in this case to fit this new sample length? My understanding is once the pitch envelope is set in the simpler then it won't move based on the length of the sample, but rather your settings.

Is this what makes kick2 so special?
