I have a large electronic music recording ...
there is one 20 second section in 1 track (#18) to which I want to add a filter (controled live) effect, then I'd like to have that resulting sound recorded (frozen?) onto another track (#18) ... so I can then remove the filter and paste this back over top the original sound
(so I don't have to have the filter on the entire track ..)
thanks
I realize that I could use automation to turn the filter on and off and control the parameters.
BUT this happens often enough that I'd like to know a technique to repeat this process.. by recording the effect of the filter and having that result as a new source sound.
Can I freeze 1 track 20 second and paste the resulting sound?

Re: Can I freeze 1 track 20 second and paste the resulting sound?
Yes.
Create a new AUDIO track (#18 for example) and set it's INPUT to the track you want to record (#13 with filter) .. (don't change #13 output)
Then set record on for the #18 , play and manipulate the sound via the filter .. Stop the recording.
NOW you have the effect recorded on track #18 ..
