Just got myself a new laptop and these are the results. The onboard sound on this thing is utter shite and the latency is unbearable even with ASIO4All. I've got a Presonus Firebox but I can't get it to work with either the onboard firewire port or a PCMCIA adapter. I'll post results for it at some point when (if) I get it to work.

Ok! I found a post on this forum (cpu saver), where somebody suggest the use of SpeedswitchXP, to force the best settings for maximum performance and cpu speed.
//www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/
With the same driver, cpu is now 34%, what I expected.
I just hope this is not dangerous for the laptop. Since that change, fan is always running. I suppose everything is working harder.
