Test on Ibook G4 1Ghz

Post by lezef » Wed Sep 21, 2005 8:36 pm

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter % (if it bounces around, please list the peak) 119%-135%
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model APPLE Ibook G4 1Ghz
3) Operating System Mac OS X.4.2
4) CPU Make Model and Speed G4 1Ghz
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram (if you know) 768 Mo DDR2700
6) Soundcard (Stock or add on?, usb/firewire/pci ?) M-AUDIO Firewire Audiophile
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know) Hitachi 60 Go 7200 rd/min

I'm compltely upset by this result ! I think Live 4.1.4 was less hungry on the CPU than LIVE 5. Maybe it's possible to make the same liveset for both version, isn't it ?

the purpose of this test is not to compare 4 to 5. its to compare your computers with mine, his, and hers, and theirs. So it includes alot of the new features in v.5

if you'd like to know if Live 5 is more or less cpu hungry than Live 4.1.4 was, then run the Live 4 Test from the Live 4 Performance Test thread - in Live 5.

You should be showing between 26-30% on a 740 1.73ghz Centrino anyday of the week.

Such a shame it is for us mac users.

Skiptracer, I believe it's only a 4200 RPM HD in the new iBooks. I wish it was a 5400 RPM.

Check the tech stats at the site: http://www.apple.com/ibook/specs.html

You speak the truth, and I thakn you for mentioning this. I was a bit surprised by the 60% CPU biznizz. right now im playing the Perf. Test Track at max 27% CPU. Quite the difference I'd say!

Thanks again!

I knew it was way off when I saw the % CPU for that CPU type.
