That's odd .
My Toshi is a 3.2 w/512kb cache and only PC2700 (333mhz) ram @ 1gig and I get a steady 31-33% with it stable at 32% most of the time.
I would have expected a faster result than that myself for your laptop.
Very strange (at least 27-30% would have been what I expected).

It would be really great if someone from Ableton could comment on their insider experience with regards to the significantly beter performance in Win over Apple.
I am hoping that they will say something like:

"Oh yeah, Steve Jobs sent us the secret decoder ring last week (sorry if it didn't make the debut of 5)" but in the next update you can expect the lesser powered, significantly less utilized (by a standard commercial standpoint) 1-2.7ghz macs to run as smoothly as the 3.8g, 64 bit, amd chips, with which Ableton (as practical developers) have in their best interest to optimize for."

I fucking hate giving my money to microsoft, but having been shafted enough by Apple (with my experience with Logic 7 support/premature discontinuation of G5's, etc) I feel no loyalty to Apple. Though, despite my drunken state (all out of bear, had to hit the Sapphire) OSX FUCKING rocks.

It is so hard to make up my mind these days. If only I didn't love tweaking operator in real time so much! "That" is the ultimate CPU killer!

It's not any secret that Apple has been held back by IBM for years now.... and Intel and AMD have just glided by them. I mean.... come on people... think about it.... Steve Jobs had to have been shitting himself to make the switch to Intel chips. That's about the most unlikely move anyone would hve ever predicted Apple computer co. to make.

The simple truth is that Apple is no longer the performance leader they once were.... The only thing that has kept them alive the past few years is the legions of loyal customers they have built over the years..... but even that can only sustain them for so long. They had to evolve in order to remain competitive. We Ableton users are witnessing this fact in our performance tests.

I'm looking forward to the future for Apple, though.... I'm certain the new Intel gear will return them to their strong position again.

Not bad for a computer that I only paid $695 for on ebay!!! Still only temporary until I get an Intel Powerbook. I think I might try overclocking the processor and running the test again.

So far I see the amd 64's kick ass. I notice alot of you seem to have dual g5's... why on earth are you using Live which doesn't take advantage of that second cpu? Myself, I'm going to grab a dual core and go back to Cubase until Ableton wakes up and smells the coffe on performance.
