1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 20 %
2) Macbook Pro 15"
3) OSX 10.4.10
4) 2,2 GHz Core 2 Duo
5) 2 GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1 GB
6) Internal
7) 160 GB Serial ATA-hårddisk (5400 varv/min)

I use Live 6.0.10.

Does anyone know why the performance is not better? It's the latest Macbook Pro with this processor.

you think you've got problems......i've noticed a real drop off in performance recently especially with audio unit virtual instruments....so i came back to run the test.

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 38 %
2) Macbook Pro 15"
3) OSX 10.4.10
4) 2,4 GHz Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa
5) 2 GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1 GB
6) Internal
7) 160 GB Serial ATA-hårddisk (5400 varv/min)

Live 6.0.10

Any ideas why this is so slow?? Worth doing a clean install of the OS?

If i make the test with the multiprocessor off i get about 38% to 40%.
With the multiprocessor on i go down to 25% to 28%.

yes...that would figure. I've just sent a mail to the abes....it seems like my machine is behaving as a single core as far as Live is concerned. I ran some diagnostics on the hardware and everything checks out ok. Reinstalled Live but I still get the same problem.....

Ok, upgraded to Live 7 and ran the test again.

Live 7.0.1
1) Cpu Meter 48% @ 512 Samples WTF? (Acitivity Monitor shows 93%!!)
2)Macbook Pro 2.4 15 inch
3) OSX 10.4.11
4) Intel Core 2 Duo
5) 2 GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1 GB
6) Internal soundcard
7) 160G Internal Drive

I think I'm going to cry now.... :(
What is causing this dreadful performance? Processor stepping? Apple update to Core Audio? I feel like I'm back on a single core processor.....(fills his boots with his tears....)
