Tricky Remoting:: Quad Panning in Live 5

Looking for a way to quad pan with an x/y controller in Live 5. This involves 2 stereo outputs going into 4 speakers.

Don't want to rewire. Note: not looking to do "surround sound", just multi-channel mixes for Live performances.

The tricky thing is controlling directions on a track with 1 x/y controller.

Any Suggestions??

You could try:

Track 1 is your source track. Set it "A" on the crossfader, and outputting to master 1/2.
Track 2 is empty but has "audio from" set to Track 1, output to master 3/4, and monitoring on. Set it "B" on the crossfader. Set the x axis of the controller to the pan pots of both tracks, and set the y axis of the controller to the crossfader.

Route the 1+2 to the master bus, and use a second audiotrack to grab 3+4 and send it to the rear speakers. It also does modulation, for that swirling thing, and the gui's nice.

My Ozonic controller has separate volume control sliders for each stereo pair, so front/rear control is easy. 1 & 2 go to FOH, and 3 & 4 go to the rear. I also have sends set up on A and B to control the amount of the main track that is fed to the rear. For swirling, swishy stuff, the Ozonic's joystick can control 4 parameters, or I use follow actions with volume automation to move stuff around the room, and it stays tempo-synced to the track.

hmmm.... quad pan looks like the easiest solution. unfortunately, it seems like it's only for PC. I'm OSX.

maybe there's something i can do in BIDULE? I'm not so familiar with the program, but it looks like something I'd be into.

bidule is definitely the complicated way to go - just search kvr or macmusic or whatever for a surround panner for osx.
