Render times? TooooooooooLooooooooonnngggg

Post by Tyrant » Thu Aug 18, 2005 10:57 am

What is the average render time for a 6 min track?, sometimes it takes my computer nearly an hour. Is this a known issue ?

Well, unless you lounted all loops and sounds and vsts you got, then added each and every effect onto each sound, its totally crazy indeed.

It differs alot depending on how much things you have in your tracks, but for me, with a complete track with nothing all to weird in it, I export it in about 50-70% of realtime playback. Im on a 3.6 GHz, 2Gb RAM.

the way I understand it:

Lets say I have a 6 minute track, that in realtime takes up about 30 percent cpu. The render process would be close to maximum cpu load, reducing the render time to 1/3 - two minutes.

If you've activated the normalise function - always a good idea - then it would do a scan first, then render - meaning that in this example a fulle render would take 4 minutes, 2/3 of the playing time.
I think there's something wrong in your setup. Maybe it's a particular plugin that's acting up?

Heh... why not insert a new track, mute it and then record from the master out to get your new song... that shouldn't take more than six minutes :P

Definitely sounds like something is wrong though... like some plugin is going into CPU overdrive...

I'll remove the plugins one at a time and see if there is one screwing around
