mac vs. pc files?
mac vs. pc files?
I'm up to do a remix project for someone, but he gave me a disc today and the filenames are . . .
Lead Vocal.L
Lead Vocal.R
Electric gtr 1.L
Electric gtr 1.R
Etc
Like ".L" and ".R" is the extension. I'm not hiding extensions in XP, so that's the full file name.
Also, I'm not sure, but I think they were burnt (if not created) on a Mac. I tried adding .aiff and/or .wav to the end of them (I'm on a PC), but they come up as unrecognized. Any way to get around this?

Not true..the mac format is aiff..chagos wrote:actually SD2 is not specifically native to Pro Tools.
it was the native mac file for audio, but they are not used that much anymore. Great file for transfer from mac to mac, but they do not transfer to PC, so most mac users try to work with aiff or wav.
sd2 is from the digidesign sounddesigner software what was digidesigns main product before they developed pro tools...sd for sound designer.
pro tools is still based on this format that handles a stereo files as 2 monofiles.
