Choosing master keyboard

Post by Lo-Fi Massahkah » Sat Sep 17, 2005 6:05 am

Hi,

I've had my eyes on the CME UF7 (345 Euros) as my coming master keyboard. 76 semi weighted keys, aftertouch, USB, some faders and knobs.

Now I've been given the option of buying a used Fatar Studiologic SL-880 for about 150 Euros. 88 hammer action keys, aftertouch, no USB, 4 keyboard zones (for splits). It's getting mixed reviews on the web.

Would you help me decide? I am going to get a full size keyboard. The CME has a nice playability (the semi weighted ones) and is in a good price range. We're selling our upright piano since we're moving house in a few months. I'd like to continue my efforts of actually playing as opposed to programming my tunes. What do you say?

Cheers,
Mikael

ya, seriously. the m-audio stuff is sick if you are looking for weighted.

Thanks!

But I've tried out the CME - and as far as semi weighted goes - that has my vote. Even though it's a bit more expensive. In fact I was certain I would buy that. It's just that now that Fatar came into the picture... :?

Cheers,
Mikael

I think so, just you must pay 4x more for Kurzweil logo, so far so good, I am one of the first CME users, since April, no problems except CME UF 8 is not the one you may like to take on stage.
You need athletic girlfriend or fanbase. I will get second one- UF 7 or 6 for live use. There is template for Live and editor should be there anytime. Since I am not keyboardist I was sceptical about 88- "do I really need it". hell yes, my keyboard skills improve much faster as with synth action keys.

Allright... I've decided to go with the Fatar. Hopefully it'll treat me nicely. It has the features that I need, seems to be built like a tank (44 lbs.), has hammer action and from what I reckon a good reputation. If I'm not pleased with it, I'll just sell it since I'm getting a pretty good deal on it. Then I'll definitely get the CME... :D

Thanks everybody!
