Ibook G4 USB bandwidth? How much can it eat?

Post by claudek » Sat Sep 24, 2005 2:24 pm

I was wondering how much bandwidth a Ibook G4 can handle.
I am interested in getting a USB audio interface and also using another
port for a EC33e usb midi controller.

Would it work fine or choke up?

Both are usb powered.

I dont know why it would be a problem, but you might as well buy a firewire interface.

it would work fine. or at least it would work AS fine as it would if you had nothing else connected.
the UC-33 is USB1.1 spec so it doesnt eat hardly any bandwidth.

I have the X-Station ( MIDI /Audio interface /controller keyboard /synth ) plus a P5 USB glove, plus a friends Akai MPD16, all on a powerbook. So far it's OK, but i think I'm going to get a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card to run some of this off of, as I'm going to use the powerbook like I used my tower, and also use the Logitech Mp700 mouse with it.

Anyway you should be OK with just two devices, but go firewire if you can, I find it just a tad more stable.
