anyone know a quick way to do this?
anyone know a quick way to do this?
Hey Troops
I have maxed out the hard drive on my laptop and was thinking of turning all my WAV files into MP3s to save a bit of space.
I am sure it has performance issues for me as I have been getting the odd click and glitch, sometimes with only a few tracks. I do need more RAM for sure as I've only 512 just now.
My specs are Intel Centrino 2.0, FW audiophile and XP sp2
I have backed up all the wavs onto my desktop.
I was wondering if there was a way to multi- convert all the files to MP3 without having to open each one individually in my wave editor (cool edit 2)and "save as"
I dont really have any cash to spend otherwise I'd probably get an external FW HD.
Anyone got any suggestions...
cheers

Maybe there is some kind of capture and playback tool I could use to record the process as some kind of macro.
Will think about HD, do you think this will have better impact on performance than say another stick of 512 RAM. I cant afford both right now so looking for the largest gain in performance I suppose...
thanks

doesn't live just turn mp3's back into wavs when you drop them in a track?

Oh... another idea.
Download a Linux "Live CD". Boot of the CD (it wont break anything on your harddrive). If your partition with your wavs is fat16/32 you're in luck, no need for any special, expensive program, tools included on teh live CD should be more then enough.
If you're interested in this method, I'll spend more time plotting out some ideas to get it working.
