MIDI Tracks - How many????

Post by Ricka » Mon Oct 03, 2005 6:42 pm

Hello Ableton Musicians, just installed my Live 5 software and upgraded to version 5.0.1. Just wondered, how many MIDI tracks is it possible to run simultaneously in Live. The reason why I ask is because when I try and run more than about 3 or 4 I get a message saying that to add another (when I try and do so) is beyond the limitations of the software and I should use the demo version instead - mighty strange or am I doing something wrong????
Any responses most welcome and mucho appreciated. Cheers, Richard C.

Are you perhaps using Live Lite or something? No restrictions in the ordinary version.

No, this is the full boxed version and I'm running the 5.0.1 update also. I must be doing something wrong. Cheers, Rich C.

No. it's because you're clicking on an Operator preset and don't have operator installed, so Live wants to switch to Demo mode so that you can try out the Operator synth. Any other simpler preset or VST or external midi source you'll be able to run as many of as you want.
