Definetly, don't spill coffee, or don't read it backwards.. (although/..)noisetonepause wrote: Or read Nietzsche if you want something with a little more oomph. But do read it properly.
Or watch Guy Debord's movies, issued for the first time on DVD tomorrow!!!!

It was descartes who spend half his life in bed thinking wasnt it?
If Descartes used ableton his theories probably never would have seen the light of day....he'd be: "I think therefore what?? Never mind that what about the beats THE BEATS!

John Heard & Liv Ullmann were in an exceptional movie called "Mindwalk" which was largely based on Capra's book "The Turning Point".
It really helps to put a contemporary context into the shit Capra thought with regards to Systems Theory. Explains alot of the chaos the world is going through today as well. And in its own right, the movie shows how awesome conversation can be. reminds me of alot of enlightening conversations i've had years ago.
anyone else seen this movie?
but then. you knew that.
also highly recommend a newer book of his called "the hidden connections: a science for sustainable living". not done with it yet, but i am liking it so far.

i'm just in the middle of reading 'the web of life' now.
Turning point was good. If only we could get college economics profs to read it...
The tao of physics was a huge turning point for myself personally, everything just made so much more sense after reading it.
In the two years i've been on logic and native instruments forums, never have i seen a thread about philosophers or spiritual physicists! javascript:emoticon(':o')
good lord, i've been on this forum for a week, and you guys pull out capra!javascript:emoticon('')
Next time i log on, i'll likely see a post for a vipassana meditation/ ableton live jam retreat. Equanimity and inner peace.... through loop triggering!

I think it's the intuitive and immediate nature of the program that causes users to make associations with this type of thinking. Live is truly the only element of my computer that makes it feel like an instrument, everything else feels like scales, settings and knobs, important elements but the cohesion of Live is what ties it together for me.
Isn't he that sailor dude that always needs to eat spinach?forge wrote:lol - cant believe it took 2 pages for that one!jamesp wrote:"I think, therefore I jam!"

My favorite story about Descarte is how he died. He used to stay in bed all morning, reading and writing, very leisurely. He needed to leave France and accepted a position with the Royal Family of Norway (Norway, Denmark, I can't remember which of those Scandanavian countries). Anyway, the queen required him to tutor the children, and she demanded that he start teaching at the crack of dawn.
Within a month, Descarte died of pneumonia. I, like Descarte, am not a morning person. I just started a new job that requires me to get up early every day and I'm worried it's going to kill me.
