Hi folks,

firstly a big THANKS to all the Live users for their Live 2.0.2 related feedback.

Some general points to the Live 2.0.3 release:
- We'll inform all members of the newsletter about this update at the beginning of next week.
- The Live 2.0.3 demo versions will be available also in the next week.

... and the list of fixed bugs within Live 2.0.3.

==============================================================================
Subject: Fire slot recordings

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: When you have fired a clip that was currently recording in a slot,
there was sometimes a gap until you could hear anything.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Clips that were just recorded in the arranger

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: When you were recording "Live In" with "Monitor through Live" turned
off (i.e. with latency compensation), you couldn't hear anything
until you change a setting (like gain) of the newly recorded clip.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: "Late launchers": Simultaneously starting clips

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: When the song was stopped and you now have fired a scene with clips
that could fade in ("Fade" flag on and start position of the clip
was not at the beginning of the sample), these clips where not
started directly but at the next quantisation time. Now all clips
start together directly.

Status: Fixed (Superb bug description by "cloudchips", thanks again)

==============================================================================
Subject: MIDI clock out drifts

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: Because of a stupid bug in Live 2.0.2 MIDI clock out started to
drift after a short while. This was just a bug in Live 2.0.2 and not
in Live 2.0.1.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Fired clips under MIDI sync

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: When Live was running in MIDI slave mode and you now have fired
clips that could fade in ("Fade" flag on and start position of the
clip was not at the beginning of the sample), sometimes these clips
where not started at all. Now all clips start - always. ;-)

Status: Fixed (Superb bug description by "cloudchips", thanks again)

==============================================================================
Subject: Eject CD or an external storage device while Live is running

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on OS X & OS 9

Bug: Eject/disconnect of a cd/external disk could result in a crash when
this device was shown up in Live's file browser.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Number of useable audio files at the same time

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on OS X

Bug: On some systems it was not possible to add more than (about) 240 physical different
audio files into Live.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Default warp mode for new samples

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: Default warp mode was not used for new / or recorded samples. The
warp mode was always set to "beats".

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Note-Offs now do not start the song anymore

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on OS 9

Bug: Assumption: Live was used as ReWire slave to Logic and there was a
MIDI connection over OMS from Logic to Live. After stopping the
song, Logic sends Note-Offs (to get sure that all synths are going
off). These Note-Offs could start Live again and so Logic as well.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Track's monitor state

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: The state of a track's monitor switch was not saved in the document.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Strange clicks in EQ4

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: Switching on/off the filter bands inside the EQ4 could sometimes
result in clicks.

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Multiple monitor support for PC

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on PC

Bug: On a dual monitor system it was not possible to use Live on the
second monitor and mostly there are also some graphical artefacts
on the primary monitor.

Status: Fixed (This is mainly tested with different models of dual head
graphic cards from Matrox. Please inform us if you have problems
with dual monitor using other grahic cards.)

==============================================================================
Subject: Support for ASIO sample type ASIOInt32LSB16

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on PC

Bug: Live was giving an error for audio interfaces using this sample
type. Currently this sample type is used from the Presonus
Firestation.

Status: Fixed (This bugfix was reported & verified by our Live user "Rami". Thanks
again, Rami.)

==============================================================================
Subject: "Undo.cfg" message box

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: Under special circumstances an message box popped up saying that
"Undo.cfg could not be opened".

Status: Fixed

==============================================================================
Subject: Freeze after running Live for a long time

Platform: Live 2.0.2 on all platforms

Bug: Because an int overflow :-) Live could freeze after running for several
hours depending on the used sample rate (13,5h at 44100hz ; 6,5h
at 96000hz)

Status: Fixed

... and some other small bugfixes.

Happy weekend,
regards,
Alex

Yes, Ableton is a company.
Yes, you produce a product.

You do both with intense originality and passionate, personal attention.

Thank you for all your work!

So there was that note about loading 240 clips...
How many could feasably be played back at once? Suppose that I felt it necessary to make around 30 tracks. Could 30 files stream from a generic 7200rpm firewire drive? more? Less? I suppose it would depend on the bit and sample rate as well. Plus CPU speed, ram, etc. Well nevermind, I guess I'll just do some testing mesylf. But respond if you have an answer ;)

G

excellent work!

This is so cool!

I'm playing a show tonight in San Francisco, and I'll be able to use live for the first time "live" tonight!!! I'm so stoked! I've written all my tracks in live but when we tried to sync our two laptops err... well, Thanks for fixing this stuff, the sync bugs have been keeping me from using live the way it's supposed to! LIVE

Thanks Ableton!!!!!!

As one proud Live user who did post regarding the need for support for dual monitors, I have to say, where I already was stunned with my passion for Ableton's people's desire to make an incredible dedication to strived-for excellence.
I paid for my upgrade, gladly and I have no income. My birthday month brought the arrival of 2.0 ...when I'd made my purchase in November. If I had waited a couple weeks & bought Live in October, my upgrade would have been free. Even if I had known in advance.... I would have still made my purchase when I did... at the first humanly possible moment.
Just wanted to say how impressed I am about the upgrade!...daym!
I like Live.

In 2003, I was using an MPC 2000. That year I bought my first DAW Sonar 2.2.

I don't think Live was doing midi yet.
