I have Sampletank 2, and have been working happily with Sonar, Tracktion, Project 5 v1 and v2, and Ableton Live v4 for six months on a nice new AMD based DAW.
However, when I upgraded to Live 5, everything started going downhill. Earlier version of Live 5 would crash when Sonic Synth was loaded (ST2 engine).
Now that Version 5.0.2 of Live is out, Sonic Synth running under ST2 full 2.0.8.1 or 2.0.9 will not crash "as soon", but the Live 5 tracks feeding Sampletank 2 get confused after a while, then the track timers will stop responding, and output from Sampletank is muted (no midi data shows up in the GUI either). This happens regardless of whether I use Sampltank 2 as a multi-timbral instrument or not.
All my other hosts are working with ST. Conversely, all my other VSTi's work with Ableton Live 5, including Pentagon, eJ, Tau Pro, Emulator X, ZR3, Mr. Tramp, etc.
I have submitted three bug reports to Ableton, who told me I am shutting down my application improperly (not - the app is shutting down my system!),
I also contacted IK. IK suggested retrograding to ST 2.0.8.1 but that did not help.
Has anyone else experienced problems with Sampletank 2 and Ableton Live 5? Perhaps an earlier version is working for you?
For what it's worth, My audio caard is an 1820m with latest drivers, which has been stable on my system for all other purposes.
Thanks!
Ableton Live 5 is eating Sampletank 2
I had the very problem you mention with SampleTank2 more or less slowly bringing Live 5.01 to its knees. Not so in either the first 6-7 betas (can't remember) or in 5.02, now everything is hunky dory. I should mention though that I'm still running version 2.02r1 - I have never bothered changing it, really. Is it possible for you to downgrade to 2.02? I have never really had any problems with it apart from Live acting up.
