Hi everyone,

Well after working with Ableton Live 5 for about a week now, i'm not ready to actually start working on some muisc. But after reading the manual I am still having problems using my Kontrol49 keyboard. I think its connected but seems the 49 isn't controlling Live. Seems the tempo contorler on the 49 is controlling the temp but how do I actually get it to control the instruments and Vst's?

Can someone help me?

Thanks a million in advance..

its a bit involved to explain in a post, but here's what i did.

i basically loaded the Live template from the application. then i loaded live, made sure i got the basical controls and such responding (set up in the live preferences) and started digging in the manual for the stuff that wasn't (like impulse and other controls). it involved a bit of programming of the controller, but not impulse is mapped on the 16 pad section (mapped one pad at a time) and some of the other controls like mod wheel are being controlled as they should.

once you get the programming down for a template you like, make sure you save it. sorry there isn't a silver bullet but it should only take a night to get it set up the way you think it should be done.

Thanks helixx,

I have been working on getting this to work for 2 days now. I hope to get everything completed today. Will there be alot of work getting my BCF2000 to work with this as well?

the bcf is much more straightforward imo.

set it to emulation mode 1 (default)
turn on "midi programming mode" in ableton
select the control you want to assign midi automation do via the mouse
twiddle the knob.
repeat until done.

this is set at a LIVE PROJECT level, so its best to create a completely clean, mapped project and then save it and set that project to your default.

i have created two templates -- one for DJ'ing (which uses BCF standard mode) and one for mixing my original stuff (which uses Cubase/Nuendo mode 2).
