SpeedStep™ technology in laptops

Post by Spacerboy » Sun Mar 16, 2003 9:23 pm

everyone who has got a Intel PIII-M or PIV-M in his laptop: if the SpeedStep™ technology of your pentium processor is switched on there is a +20% fluctuation in ableton...which means that the cpu usage sometimes can reach the limit (if you load like 70-80%) and you may get clips in your sound output. to avoid this its better to dissable the speed step tech. by switching from laptop to DESKTOP mode in the energy dialog of WinXX.

:-) hope that may help some people of you...

cheerz, spacy

p.s.: this was also posted one year ago but its worth to remind

addon: if you use the built-in soundcard from a laptop avoid to use the emulated ASIO drivers from Steinberg Cubase.. they suck...
instead use the normal MME/DX system drivers
