well that was kind of my point really. Everybody is, or has been, a complete wanker n00b. Making this a registered-only forum wouldn't change it.

This should not only be a place for people who currently own Live, but also for people who are planning to.

Yes.

Well, does it is the question?

2 years ago there was this massive argument about registering to use the forum because of all the abuses .
the only real change it did was that now everyone is not called "guest" anymore .... if i want to abuse someone , i'll probably sign up under a different name .

Its all about demotivating a warez user.
How is ableton demotivating them now if they can grab knowledge also for free.
And how does it end up, we have to pay more in the future for a heavly protected Ableton?and even more cpu use, Ableton combined with synchrosoft?

It seems it's not Ableton's policy to tend to heavy copy protection, dongles or whatever. It seems to that they don't really pay attention to warez users, and I believe noisetonepause's statement about Tao Te King (if it is) is what they must adopt as an attitude.
I could be wrong all the line though. But as a user, I don't care giving info even to not legal users etc... doesn't really make a difference to me.
Best,

And when a crack user downloads the demo to get a serial so they can use the forums?

This point has been raised a few times before, and usually what comes out of it is that people who are using a demo version really like being able to ask stupid questions here. :) Which is fine if we all don't mind helping out a newbie once in a while. I suppose it encourages new users who might consider buying the program later. Certainly I think the friendliness of this forum is a big attraction to new folk.
