physical keyboard/laptop stands for performing ?
hi all. merry festivus.
Currently I'm using an IRONING BOARD for a keyboard (2 octave) and laptop.
but it's not optimal (but pretty damn good for $5 )
I've been looking at the http://www.quiklok.com/ stuff .. can anyone reccomend anything.? multilevels might be nice, and I want the laptop secure (not possibly falling off)
any tips out there?
this looks ok, but I would wonder if my laptop placed at the top might fall through the gap?!

this particular stand holds up to 300lb. - 135kg
and quiklok make another xx- stand that holds up to 400 pounds.
In my experience the double-x quikloks don't move *at all* on stage - which is why I totally prefer them over a single-x version which wobbles like nobodys business.

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
Sorry I didnt express myself precisely, what I meant is that with heavy keyboard they are stable enough but anyway are the double ones really so much better ? I gave my single one to a friend, but still have the upper extension, maybe I give it a try, my workstation takes some minutes to set,2 extension, 2 trays, rack frame etc. I dont really need it for small gigs ( laptop, microkontrol, Ozonic and Faderfox). The cross model would be just seconds.Machinate wrote:this particular stand holds up to 300lb. - 135kg

It is different no "better" or worse, more expensive, mine adds to 400-500 euros, but I spent much less buying lots of parts from bankrupt distributor, in fact I posted the link here but it is over I think.SongCarver wrote:so now i am confused. is the Z series better?
the double x series seems the way to go. is this correct?
I'm looking for something which is fast. It doesn't have to hold a lot of weight. (maybe 10 kg)
I just want my laptop to be safe, and for it to pack down reasonably compact.
Safe ? then better get the the "accordion" type or foldable table- K&M makes these , better made(German!) then QuikLok
I've got one of the locking proline stands. They can lock in a position that will accomodate a 17" notebook no problem *as long as you make sure it's firmly locked in postion*.
I was doing an outdoor gig at a local park, and when I was packing up this kid runs up and jumps on the stand, like it was parallel bars. Didn't budge.
If you have a smaller laptop and use wood, plexiglas or something similar I would suggest some velcro strips on the stand and bottom of the board, and possibly even some dots of velcro on the bottom of the laptop and top of the board.
