not getting good performance

Post by YILA » Sat Dec 17, 2005 2:21 pm

Hello

I seem to be maxing out my processor, but only running 2 tracks of midi with operator and reverb and delay.

Whats tweaks can i do to fix? i have disabled speedstep in the bios.
Is it because my hard drive is only 5400rpm?

Hi,

What are your power settings ? Should be "always on". Seeing your specs, you should be very fine with power. I've got only 1,5Ghz centrino and I get a lot out of it.
Also, it depends on the operator patch (some are heavy), but still... check power settings and programs running in the background.
Best,

YILA, type out all your settings for us: What is your sample-rate? What kind of programs do you have running alongside Live? etc etc.

hey,

i think it was my speedset setting in the bios, seems to be ok now.

getting about 25% usage. What would a harddrive upgrade give me performance wise in percentage?

Try the Live 5 performance test. That way you can benchmark your performace againt other users.

a new hard drive won't help you run operator. 25% is goood.

A lot of new motherboards come underclocked by default... I guess they assume that most people won't notice the difference, and it will save power and wear on the chip. To get the full performance, you gotta go into the bios and adjust the clock settings to get the maximum cpu performance.
