oh boy .i very much know what youre talkin' about.
just run reason 3 demo songs with pb15/1.67/512 the cpu indicator was green at 50% approximately on 3 ms latency with built in sound crad, not bad id say.
interesting what would it be with fa-66 interface or fw410..

Sorry, I just had to ask. It sounds like you mean reason is more 'high level'ish' than reaktor. That's not what you mean is it? If it is, man are you in for surprises...

my fw410 is unusable at a low buffersize

i have to have it at 1024 sample rate to avoid crackles

but my powerbook is only 1.0 GHz

dude, I'm by no means an expert, but i've got reason and reaktor, and if you think reason is anywhere near as deep as reaktor, I would suggest digging into reaktor a bit. I don't make ensembles, but still, reaktor can do anything, and you just need the power. It can sound like hardware. reason can't. I love reason, but man, reaktor is THE HIGH LEVEL AMAZING SOUNDING SHIT! that's all i'll say,

cheers,
