Plugs and parameters displayed - Absynth etc

Post by conny » Tue Jan 03, 2006 2:38 pm

When exposing the Absynth parameters i Live or Bidule, I get a list with:

- unused
- Main slider 1
- Main slider 2
etc and
- Main X 1
- Main X 2
etc

The only ones I found some use for is Main X 1 and 2.
If I automate some others nothing happens.

For Absynth, you have to assign each controller to a synth parameter in absynth on a patch by patch basis.

You mean on the Absynth Midi Page?
Not that many options there, or I'm mistaken?
No midi learn?

You're true. Apart from volume, pan,..., if I remember well, there are four assignable CC for each patch.

try using control driven envelopes. they get assigned to a cc number, then maybe you can automate that way,(if live lets you automate a cc number).

there's no midi learn, but there's way more mdi control possiblities than at first apparent in absynth, I'm just not that familiar with live's automation.

If you want to control a parameter with a midi knob though, just make an envelope for it, and select control driven as the type, with a straight slope from min to max.

cheers,

I'm not able to automate absynth3...

Post by werewere » Tue Feb 14, 2006 11:21 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to do the same that Conny, but I'm not able to automate it.

Inside Absynth, doesn't appears anywhere the (for example) "Main Slider 1" wich appears inside Ableton, so I'm not able to automate it.

I tried this simple thing: one oscil in FM. Then I want to control the main pitch or the fm index/balance. If i go to Midi->Midi Controllers and choose the "CC1" to automate into Ableton the absynth "fm index/balance", the things like:

- unused
- Main slider 1
- Main slider 2
etc and
- Main X 1
etc

that appears in Live, doesn't appears in absynth. I don't know wich of that things is the same than the options that appears in midi automation inside Absynth, like:

Aftertouch
Pitchbend
(0) bank select
(1) mod wheel
etc

Also, I tried to do the same with Control Driven envelopes, but they show the same parametters than above and the names has nothing to do with the names that appears in Live

So, in my little example, what should I do to assign the (for example) "Main Slider 1" to something inside absynth?? (for example, the fm index/balance or main pitch)

Lots of thanks,
were.
