Live Jocks: What do you have on your sends?

Post by difference » Sat Jan 07, 2006 12:43 pm

A touch of 'verb? A Crazy distortion/delay/phase chain?

What do you use on your sends in live when your mixing up songs?

Cheers guys,

Guess I better try and meet up with this Ivan feller then!

Smart - how do you find connecting h/w on a send/return loop via your soundcard? Any latency problems? I was thinking of getting a Kaoss Pad but that was one of the things putting me off. Is it easy to deal with?

kaoss pad is very fun.....especially the sampling settings.....sample a few secs then play the sample with pitch and time on x and y axis on the kaoss pad.....

but one of the added bonuses is being able to use it as a midi controller....assign the pad x and y to effects parameters in live....good fun...

i picked one up a couple of years ago on ebay for £70 so they must be dirt cheap now.

don't know bout latency settings on a return.....on a fw 410....forget about it...i don't even bother.
macbook 2.16 ghz, live 6...studio with gear now gathering dust.

He must have the soundcard output going into a hardware mixer and then sending it back into Live.

No real probs, I use a spdif digital send to the lex and then use my traveller's built in zero latency mixer for the return (cuts down on tracks in Live too)

I recently recorded a live-set... Really made use of TC Natives´ Bit Crusher and Basement Arts Frantic filter...

The kaoss pad is an excellent off board fx unit for Live... if you've got your latency compensation setup you can really get a lot out of it... if you already have one I'd just say hook it up and give it a try... it is a real treat.

Yeah, the "bass synth" is on a send from a Multiface. I like running drums to it. Filter, fuzz, and an unstoppable Atari-style oscillator.
