the only problem with the new synth is the PRICE.

$1699 aparently.

WOW. That's a bit pricey considering you can buy an Alesis Ion for $599 now.

Other than that, it does sound pretty great. MP3s are available at Korg's site now.

Where, if I may ask, did you find the prices? I would love to see what the padkontrol and microx are going for...

I would be willing to bet the 1700 for the radias is retail vs. street. Probably around 1200-1400 although that's a little high, still...

Thanks in advance...

robtronik, where did you find that price? I think I saw it somewhere from a link on harmony central synth forum. I don't know, but if it is $1400-1700 USD, its out of the picture for me.

No offense to Korg......but

How can they justify such a hefty price tag...

Are they not painfully aware of the pwer you can get from a laptop, a few choice vsts and a portable knob box....????

just seems extortionate...

I am beginning to think that Korg is trying to fill Kurzweil’s shoes. That business model worked so well for Kurzweil you know?
A little about myself in this thread after Sales Dude McBoob asked for more information after reading my signature at the time after I started a stupid thread: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ht=#295839

That's more than a fair price for that synth, considering the oscillators are almost straight from the Oasys. Actually, looking at the specs, it's almost more powerful than an Oasys VA voice.

Comparing this to a softsynth or the Ion completely misses the point. This is MUCH more powerful than the Ion, and having dedicated controls on a hardware synth is a billion times better than controlling a softsynth with a generic controller.

Notice, I'm not saying anything about the sound quality, as yes, there is software out there that I'm sure sounds as good as the Radias.

Sigh, if I didn't have my TI, this would be #1 on my wishlist.

You could buy two ions or one Ion and two microns for the price of this.

OR - buy a real mono analogue synth from Dave Smith Instruments for that price.

I think it needs to be sub $1000 personally.

I can see the price a little more justifiable (and worth it) than that OASYS.
nevertheless, my buck will have to go elsewhere. I wish korg would get on with things and get over their 2 oscillator HI synthesis which was maybe "groundbreaking" in 2000, but its 06 now, and I am tired of the triton sound (i have a classic.) Maybe their Micro-X will prove me wrong though. Just wish the Radias synth would replace the ms2000b line and be priced accordingly. bUT ITS THEIR MMT technology, and that has to help pay the R&D for the costly Oasys... I love korg products, but I am dissapointed in the price. :? I wonder how much the Micro-X will cost, and how many sounds/samples are straight off the triton.

The Mono evolver (w. o. keyboard) is $500 so you will get a couple of those.
