How do I set up Follow Actions A then B no chance?

Post by Henry Robinett » Tue Jan 31, 2006 2:15 am

How do I get follow actions to always do A and then B? In this case I want the clip, and actually all the clips in a scene, Follow Action A to play again and then I want them to go straight to B - NEXT. I set up the chance percentages in different ways from 1 -999, but I don't want CHANCE because I want it to occur every time i this manner. But the performance aways varies.

page 144 of the manual

The Chance A and Chance B controls set the likelihood of each of the two
Follow Actions occurring. If a clip has Chance A set to 1 and Chance B set to
0, Follow Action A will occur every time the clip is launched. As we can see
from this example, a Chance setting of 0 means that an action will never happen.
Changing Chance B to 10 in this scenario makes Follow Action A occur much
less often - approximately once out of every ten clip launches.

Yeah thanks. I know that. I need to make it so it's 100% "likely" every time. So A occurs and then B occurs with no possibility of chance. So if I have it on A 999 then it won't go to B. If I put them both on the same number it's a crap shoot.

you could set that up as a loop in arrangement view, render/join it and have it all as a single clip couldn't you?

edit - it's a bit more work if you've got a bunch of scenes to do it to i guess, but doable....

you could set up something similar using follow actions with a duplicate of the first clip and using a single follow action (eg ClipA>ClipB>ClipA>ClipC>back to first clip...)
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

yeah, i think to do this you'd have two copies of clip a followed by clip b, each with follow actions to the next

Thanks. Well there's nothing like trying to do something that it's not designed to do. Just wanted to know whether it could. So I can do it another way.

I don't get what you mean, you want A A B from two scenes? As in verse verse chorus?

Make 2 copies of A and have them play sequentially, A (original), A (copy) B. Maybe I still don't get what you're saying.

I got it...

Under where it says "Follow Action" set that length to twice the loop length of A.

I've never actually used that feature before, verry cool. :D
