reraktor 4 vst not seen by live (osx)

Post by plastik » Sun May 11, 2003 4:01 pm

Hi,
I've just buyed reaktor 4 boxed, very cool app, sounds amazing but it doesn't work with live. There's a post on N.I. forum that confirm this. Actually i'm using it primary as standalone but I hope live will support it in the next update so we can use it also as vst plugin.
Bye

You cannot use VST Instruments in Live, only Effects.

Reaktor also works as a VST effect in other hosts.

NB I don't have Reaktor 4 yet (waiting for free download version).

reaktor 4 & rewire

Post by citrik » Mon May 12, 2003 11:23 pm

I wish you could, that would be great but it doesn't seem like NI is into Rewire.... It would be so nice to get these two apps working together.... I hope NI And Ableton can workout the VST issue...

reaktor 4 & rewire

Shame on them, if the guys from NI and Ableton don't ultimately synergize their starships via Rewire or whatever other soft gadget!

Since first: Ableton partly originated from former NI staff
and second: theire offices are just a ten minute car-ride apart !!

Any1 is this an issue on PC also? Not running r4 in live would be like eating soup without a spoon.

would be super sweet to have this happen. Not to far fetched either as reaktor can act as a VST and not just a VSTi...
I know rewire and NI don't go hand and hand - so i don't expect that, so this is on Ableton to code the next release to see and be able to work with reaktor as a FX plug.

logic and other vst capable apps do see Reaktor as a VST and not just as a VSTi... so no excuses ableton.

are you sure?

Post by citrik » Thu May 15, 2003 10:06 pm

That sounds logical, but the Reaktor 4 plugins say they are carbon.

"Reaktor 4 FX VST Carbon"
"Reaktor 4 VST Carbon"

Is it that live only uses mach-o plugins???

Live only supports CFM plugins, but we are working on MachO support. Carbon can be used by CFM and MachO plugins. Therefore the usage of Carbon in a plugin doesn't tell about CFM or MachO. MachO plugins are bundles by the way.
Current Live versions only supports plugins with at least one mono or stereo in and out. If a plugin doesn't apply to this, if doesn't even appear in Live VST plugins list.
Live does also not support Instruments. But Native Instruments VST plugins come withs an Effects Version.
