Multiband Compressor Plugin suggestions??????

Post by DJSK » Tue Mar 21, 2006 8:10 am

Can anyone recommend a good Mulitband Compressor Plugin that can be used as a VST with Ableton. Preferably one that plans on being a Universal Binary in the near future and can be used with my Macbook. Right now I use a Wavelab 5.0 MultiCompressor and the plug in is really good but I can't use it with Ableton and I would prefer to. I have heard Ozone is really good but have never used it. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? I am also planning on getting Logic Pro software because I need it for school and was wondering if any of the plugs in Logic Pro can be used in Ableton.

I use the free Apple AU Multiband Compressor. The interface ain't pretty, but once you've mapped the parameters to your MIDI controller, you don't need the interface any more - you can use your ears!

I put it across the output for deejaying and use it as a low-end limiter. Older tracks without a lot of low end (Motown, etc) pass straight through untouched, but more up-to-date tracks with excessive low end have the bass cut so they sit well with the older tracks.

For the life of me, I've never figured out how to use multi-band compressors. I've read about them, I've heard about how great they are, etc etc. I've been producing for over 15 years, and I've never needed to use it. What am I missing? Help me, wise ones.
