still no note repeat.

i'm tellin you, when they make that happen i'll buy one.

I'm thinking about the korg, cause of it's roll function, but that's still not the same as good ol' mpc note repeat.

Could use Live's arp for that I think?

oh yeah, for sure.

It might take some doing to get the pressure on the pad to control the volume of the roll, but i'm sure it's doable.

And i guess youd just have to make another midi track to be able to record the output of the arp if you're gonna use it to write notes.

I just think it would be easier if the controller could handle it.

Akai can kiss my ass, they sell product and are too lazy/cheap/sloppy to come out with proper software to work with their devices. I run win XP and Akai's MPD16 software will not run on it and there is no other way to tweak the settings. There's also no way to adjust it without a PC, which is the saving grace for my BCR.

Akai is a tiny company with crappy support, the MPC is an amazing legendary device but I wish they'd just go out of business and stop frontin'. I do LOVE the MPC pads (they feel like boobies and are almost as much fun to play with) and it looks like they finally put them on a controller, why they didn't to the MPD16 like this is beyond me.

What didn't you like about the padKontrol? i agree with you on the feel of the Trigger Finger and am also looking for an alternative, I've heard the padKontrol was supposed to be infinitely better (although the lack of aftertouch is discerning.)

I have the Korg Padkontrol and its has really nice pads great feel and even the corners of the pads have touch sensitivity to them really nice. The roll feature is okay at first it was unreal but then every once in awhile it can sound very digitally thin and not accurate to the ear with the rolls. Also only 2 knobs.

This Akai looks nice with all of the faders and knobs that’s a big plus…..

What's the street price??/

Yes, i know about repeat launch mode.
And i know that clips can be set to have velocity sensitivity.

But does your trigger finger send velocity information as you press it harder?

On the mpc, one of the cool things about note repeat was that as you pressed harder on the pad, the volume of the roll swelled. good times.

Yeah the trigger finger can do that, basically you have to set up whatever sound you want repeated in its own track looping, and you set the after-touch of a pad on the trigger finger to control the volume of that track.

hmm. The trigger finger can send out a note and cc from 1 pad, right?
So why not map the cc to a velocity plugin to control the volume?
