The second link works, you just have to do it a little differently.

Right-click it and 'save target as..' :)

hey guys, forgive my ignorance and lack of motivation to find out for myself, but what are the main benefits of using the UC33 as a mackie control? it there anything beyond the open close browser (which we should have anyway by now ABE!) or mapping it for people who already use one?

Hey, are you forge of Dnbmassive.net? If so, greetings!

Anyway..

There aren't any major advantages, admittedly, but here is what I like about it:

1) Able to use transport controls in any set without mapping
2) Able to navigate cursor (quite handy)
3) undo (a gimmick, hehe)
4) browser open/close

Oh and selected clip play and selected scene play.

It's not fantastic but it suits me :)

Nope, sorry - is there another? Damn them and their likeness.
Anyway..

thanks - might check it out - I have been putting in a request for a while now for midi controller templates - sounds like it goes some of the way, but I have some pretty specific setups and would really like to be able to paste them over a different set

The beauty about this is that you have the basic Mackie Control, er, controls, assigned to the faders and buttons on preset 1 but with the rotary knobs left to CCs for your VSTis etc.

You've also got the second preset assigned to CCs (but with the transport buttons mapped the MackieCtrl) so that again you can map to whatever you want.

It's pretty customisable. Just open the file with Enigma and chop and change it to your liking anyway :)

How do I get Live to use this?

I have tried a few things and feel like a moron for not figuring it out.

Thanks for any help!

go to your preferences - midi/sync- then at the bottom there is an option for mackie control, open the box next to it and select the uc33e port 1

All you have to do is to download the following file, open it in Enigma and then upload it to the UC33. Then tell Live that you want to use the UC33 as Mackie Control.

OK, got it set up, but can anyone help me edit this?

I would like to be able to use the -/+ buttons to use other channels like you can on the mackie.
or
I would like the ability to make presets 2,3,4 set up to use other channels on the mixer like, 1-32 plus master for each set not just 1-8 plus master....

Example would be
Preset 1 would be mixer 1-8 plus master
Preset 2 would be mixer 9-16 plus master
Preset 3 would be mixer 17-24 plus master
Preset 4 would be mixer 25-32 plus master

Mixer would be the mixer in ableton...

Or the ability to use the -/+ buttons to flip to the next channels would be nice too.. If anyone can help in this task I would be very grateful!

Thanks!

help a noo-b!

i just got a uc-33e yesterday and working on this issue since then..

- i imported the xml file given here (thanks!) to enigma
- uploaded to uc-33
- recalled it (well.. i think i did. not sure if it worked)
- specified "MackieControl" under control surface in live midi preferences

now, shouldn't i expect live to react to the faders etc. ? do i need more setting up?

thanks a lot!

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delayed response but I've only just got back from holiday (Tenerife :D). Aaaanyway..

Bassfrq:

The best way would be to make presets 1,2,3 and 4 to do what you want. Leave it with me for a few days and I'll try and get it working for you and send you the file.

koneko:

Hmm, you seem to have done everything right! Let's just check anyway:

1) Import into Enigma
2) Upload to UC33
3) Quit Enigma, turn UC33 off, turn UC33 back on
4) Open Ableton and do 2 things in the options:

i) On the midi tab, set the UC33 (on the inputs section) to ON for the MIDI and Remote sections. (If in Windows it may show up as USB Audio Device)
ii) Under Mackie Control at the bottom, set the first box to Mackie Control and the second box UC33/USB Audio Device.

PM me if it's not working and you have other queries.

I've also tweaked the file (numerous times) since I originally made it so I'll see if I have time to upload the new version. :)
