I've lived in Dallas TX, Columbus OH, Seattle WA, NYC, and now Portland OR.
Dallas was great for being young, creative, and underemployed.
NYC was the best for me for meeting more serious musicians and being exposed to truly mind opening art.
Seattle did not agree with me at all.
I'm in Portland now. I've been here almost 2 years and still don't know what to think of it. A lot of that is me though. I'm now in my mid 30's and work a lot. but I do not find it as easy to meet people or see and hear cool art as it was in NYC.
I think I'm trying to say that NYC was the best for me.

Berlin
London
New York
Los Angeles
Then there are well known places like San Francisco, Paris, Tokyo, Barcelona, Amsterdam that have a fashion, clubs, etcetera scene, but not (as) much in the way of music producing/labels/studios scene.
Take your pick.

Be careful with big ciites.
I know, they're tempting: Lots of concerts, clubs, 24h action. But I know too many people that went to big cities and lost all their creativity there. Suddenly they became so obsessed with consuming everything that happened that they forgot about creating anything themselves.

What I love about living in the heart of NYC is that I
don't have to consume anything to feel alive. I can just take a break from my session, stroll down the street, grab a coffee, have a random chat with a stranger, listen to a street musician, see the swarms of people rushing by, and I am sufficiently energized to go and do my thing for many more hours.
Not everyone feels that way, though, I know.

i've got you all beat. Kansas is happenin.
sorry, i bet i didn't convince you, did I?
Lawrence is a fun town, but it's all college. The only thing that lives around here are pretentious hipsters with too much indie shite. If you got some real electronic music, bring it by. We don't even get good touring acts! Any decent local acts get up and head to Brooklyn or Chicago. Argh.. it's depressing.. thank God for the internet!
There's no point to the rest of Kansas. It's a sad place.. Even Kansas City is lame. Colorado may be five years behind CA, but KS still rejects Darwin for f**k sake!

Copenhagen is nice... if your friends live there.
I was in Berlin this autumn and it fucking rocked. Can't recommend it enough.. I'd love to live there.
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.
