[OT] Colbert's speech

Post by noisetonepause » Wed May 03, 2006 8:32 pm

Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

This video made me proud to be an American for a change. Finally someone with the balls to exercise free speech!

My favorite was when he said Scott McClellan was retiring so he could spend more time
with Andy Card's kids.

and a hush fell over the crowd...as everyone realized they knew what he was talking about...

I have to admit, I got everyone of his jokes, except that one... I hate Scott Mcclellan, and was happy as shit when I heard of his retirement... could you elaborate about the punchline?

McClellan is rumored to be a pedophile...

I dont want to draw any connection, but he is widely known as a closet homosexual.

other than that, you'd have to ask around...

I didn't get the one about chocolate city/marshmellow centre. And it seemed to be the only one that made the room laugh. Yank thing?

I think it is referring to the large black, and hispanic population while the gov't center is 99% white.

it was a joke on the mayor of NewOrleans who called NO a "chocolate city"...

He was saying Washington is indeed mostly minority but is run by whitey.

and of course the graham cracker crust.

Why the hell did they invite him. I thought the speech was funny but I can't for the life of me understand why they invited him. He made everyone uncomfortable and roasted everyone.

That show has had a lot of success disguising itself as a right wing show when really its a sarcastic left wing spin off of the Jon Stewart show.

Didn't they know he was going to make them all squirm in their seats?

Twigg, the White House Correspondents Dinner is traditionaly always been a "roast" for the Prez, with everyone taking "good-natured" pot-shots at the Commander-in-Thief.

Colbert just took it a bit further... brilliantly!
