picked up a trigger finger today, and I dont understand...

why are there so many gripes with this product by its users?

the pads are ok and are a bit unresponsive on the very edges, but aside from that. it lacks the MPC responsiveness, but it isnt like this is a product to be compared to an MPC anyway. the build quality is actually quite decent...as long as you arent a mongrol and abuse this thing like an S&M pornstar, there isnt any reason why it should break.

the unit is sturdy, firm, and above all, it does everything m-audio claims it does.

I give this product a B. might even buy a 2nd one to replace my o2.

Over time the dead edges get to be irritating. Either you have to go back in and 'place' missed notes or you have to be carefull to hit the centers of the pads.....the whole point of having pads is to be relaxed and a little sloppy when you're in 'the groove' Otherwise you could just keep using the keyboard keys....
well that's what it is for me (by the way, they fixed the pads on the Axiom so there are no dead areas....guess they got a lot off complaints). The Axiom pads are so much better I wanted to ditch my Trigger Finger but I realized there are a lot of times when 8 pads are not enough. 80% of the time I prefer to just use the Axiom. ( but they did screw up the axiom by no making the pads transpose(able) so I have to setup different templates with different octives....
M-Audio's build quality is usually great, they just don't make sure things are built properly from scratch....

Danny, the responsiveness will get better as you break it in. A lot better.

I've been using a trigger finger for a while now and have no probs either. After a bit of practise you just hit the centre of the pads all the time anyway. It's just like when you start playing keyboard and you hit every other key except the one you want. Then you get better.

Get into that Enigma program that comes with it too. Tonnes of options for setting it up.

I think alot of the "gripes" are from ex-mpc or asrx users. to put it nicely-- the pads just aint the same.
