As for colour, i like the white ones, but they have the smallest disc! why?
Upgrade the disk to 120GB :)

You don't have to buy apple memory. You can get it lots cheaper elsewhere.
Actually, this isn't really true anymore. I did some price comparisons the other day, and the apple memory is more expensive, but by the time you take shipping and other factors into play, you only end up saving like 5-10$.

I'm thinking about selling my iMac to finance one of these, but I might miss the 20" screen. I wonder how the 1.83GHz duo would compare to a 1.8GHz G5? It might well smoke it...

Now people can finally STFU about Apple and laptops being expensive.

And you can all be assimilated into the cult of mac! Buuhahahaha! People pay more attention to Steve Jobs' keynote addresses then they do to the US President's State of the Nation address. How amusing. :)

How much for the extra memory and 120 gb disc? It would come closer to $1700, I think? Then it gets a little bit expensive.

As for portability, do you think this is a better option than the macbook pro?
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

In Australia, it's definitely cheaper to DIY. You can get 1gb sticks for under $140. Apple charge what, $260 for each 1G stick? Nothing's changed in this neck of the woods....

just went to the store. they are rocksolid - i was not shure about the case for my regular use, but the appear to be stronger than macbook pro's
they are beautiful machines, only needed to be stuffed with ram as the visuals use a lot

Ah, that's right. The same situation exists in Germany, too.... but I just make it a point to buy computer parts whenever I'm in America. ;)

what about the video, tho? integrated video sucks in general. won't that chew up a lot of Live's much-needed resources?

On this side of the world we try to do the same, since taxes and shipping take prices to new heights. When a friends go abroad, they always go with a wishlist of other people's needs, hehehehehe.

I will definitely consider this baby. As I said, it may just be the ticket for a cool, sturdy live machine, as well as a (relatively) affordable entrance into the mac world, and see if it delivers what it promises.

Things are getting exciting, and a leveraging in the play field will be better for us, customers, in the long term.

Yeah, the Intel 950 Chipset worries me a bit too.

BTW, the top end Macbooks (not the pros) are the only ones that come in black, and it's more than just the 20 extra GB HD. It also has the faster processor.
