Can you use tap tempo without starting live after 4 beats?

'You can use tapping to count-in: if you are working at a 4:4 signature, it takes four taps to start song playback at the tapped tempo."

From the manual-

Can you set the tempo using the tap tempo without starting playback.

We'd like to bring in loops later in the songs- but I'd like to set the tempo
with the tap and then bring it in later maunally- I've only got two hands!!!

just 'cause live starts playback, doesn't mean it has play anything.
