what is .com ??

anyone knows what it really means?
i heard it means commercial,but i dont wanna believe it.any definitions?

It means commercial. The .net, .org, and .com TLD's were designed to be non-region-specific, but in practice, they are generally used by english-language sites.

Also sometimes used to describe upstart companies with only a web presence that will probably go broke in about a year when they drained thier bankaccounts because they thought they could run thier business like a brick and mortar business.

As in: "Hey a new dot com, I call dibs on thier office equipment at the bankruptcy auction."

.net is neutral (and I think what was envisioned as the most common, before the web was soild out etc etc), .org is for non-profit organisations, .com is for businesses. There's also a .biz, but I think that's more of a joke (as in, iowausedautomobiles.biz - guaranteed lowest prices!).
