All in good fun, I was gonna post how I had the Cure's 'Faith' and 'Pornography' on two sides of a casette tape in high school, great morning music on the bus ride to school. All Cats Are Grey is a tasty track.Machinesworking wrote:Arrgh! that used to be my "if i was going ot kill myself I'd do it to this song" track
the outro on that track was so morbid, but so amazingly soothing at the same time...like musical heroin.....I used to come in from school, stick it on and fall on the bed
then me and my best mate in grade ten set our dance project for phys ed to "the drowning man" and did loads of coffin bearing type stuff

At that time it was, "I don't care how I die as long as I'm listening to music and I'm hit by a cool car." I had headphones on from class to class and had a headphone up my sleeve during class. The Smiths, Joy Division, The Cure, English Beat, Bauhaus, D'Mode, same scene, diffrenet continentsforge wrote:that used to be my "if i was going ot kill myself I'd do it to this song" track

Naming ONE song that changed it for you is tough - building your own sound/style is a LONG journey, and the songs that influence you along the way mould that style.
If one song by one artist is enough to inspire you, you run the danger of comparing everything you produce with that artist/track.
Thing is - I always wanted to produce/remix/DJ for as long as I could remember. Before I'd ever heard Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, Rockit by Herbie Hancock or No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley...
Whoops... That's three...
