VOCODER TALK
I'm looking for a way to alter human voice. I was thinking of a Sherman Filter Bank to talk into via a condenser mic. But now I'm thinking what if there's a filter or software thing out there that can do the same thing. Does the Virus TI have this ability?
BTW I recently posted a topic about "Wave Editors" and got alot of good info from all you guys, thanks. I ended up with the Audacity because its cross platform and free.

yeh i know the sherman is not a vocoder but im looking for a way to "ALTER HUMAN VOICE" weither it be by filter or vocoder. wouldnt a filter produce similar results? I mean, the FB sends in carrier waves which completly change and add to the sound right? Whats the difference?
My roommate is letting me use his ZOOM 1204 Vocoder. Just tried it out for the first time and was pleasently supprised at what the thing could do to my voice.
Anyone heard of the Orange Vocoder?

No. Not really... And if you're looking for an effect to alter your voice, then I could counter with "which effects *don't* alter the voice?*Needs2Know wrote:yeh i know the sherman is not a vocoder but im looking for a way to "ALTER HUMAN VOICE" weither it be by filter or vocoder. wouldnt a filter produce similar results?
The filterBank does not "send in carrier waves"... It does AM and extreme filtering, but nothing like a vocoder. Now, a vocoder might have a filter in it, but that's a different story.Needs2Know wrote:I mean, the FB sends in carrier waves which completly change and add to the sound right? Whats the difference?
* hehe, the "no-pass filter"

I picked up an electrix warp factory for $50 and love it. It's hardware, midi assignable, and has it's own internal synth.

Autotune makes me want to break stuff, I remember after she came out with that track and everyone used it for no other reason than 'me to' syndrome, like whole songs with that damn yoodling effect, so damn cheesy.Machinate wrote:It's not a vocoder. It's Antares Autotune.lapax wrote:Anyone know what vocoder is used in Cher's - Believe in Love track?
Thanks.
yeah, for a while I thought that was the intended purpose of the effect - to start riots...ILTK wrote:Autotune makes me want to break stuff,Machinate wrote:It's not a vocoder. It's Antares Autotune.lapax wrote:Anyone know what vocoder is used in Cher's - Believe in Love track?
