strip silence and rex
adding these features would be very big
it would be a major improvement as fas editing speed is concerned
wouldn't be great if you strip silence your loops and drag them into impluse and sampler
or quickly reorder your drum loops and then consolidate them as a new loop
yes you can do this now but it must be done by hand
are they holding off on this so 7 will have a major improvement?

i guess that is the problem when you have software so close to perfection
they could possibly make further ugrades unecessary
true perfection would be live plus metasynth plus giant touch screen plus me
seriously though
strip silence needs to get put out fast
its just plain dumb not to have this
it would work in live so well its ridiculous
just zoom into the level you want to strip at

actually rex was going to be in this version, but it turned out to be a bigger problem than first thought requiring a new warp mode which would not be ready
We actually had a working version of rex import where it ended up as normal audio but it didnt behave as normal without a new warp mode, so it will require more development before it can go in - it was only ready as a normal audio clip - not as midi with slices
i actually liked it like that, because it would mean I could use my rex library in live as normal audio, but they could hardly put in a half arsed version without having it work as rex files are intended - as slices

ARE YOU TELLIN' ME IT WILL COME SOONER OR LATER???
...oh, what wonderful news!
(...not trying to think about how long it would take...)

Re: strip silence and rex
although its a bit glitchy due to the alpha state, there is a 'crop clip' function which will strip unwanted bits out of your loops.jackmazzotti wrote:adding these features would be very big

how does this sound
auto-slicer slices audio at current zoom level (with adsr settings like recycle)
that would be easy for abes
and
probably harder would be
beat-juggler or beat scrambler similar to beat repeat but can reorder the output acording to the time subdivision of the applied effect and the level of resolution of the effect
an example would be settings one bar and 16th notes
which would then scramble the 16th notes in one bar's time
or 4 bars and quarter notes, 16th and 192ths ect...
reodering could have various settings like like shuffling a deck of cards
every other one , every fourth one , totaly random etc...
include a beat silence and transpose effect as well
examples would include muting everyother 16h note or transposing everyother quarter
yes some of this can be done at the clip envelope level (which i use to dj with)
but it must be drawn in
i also think a device that allows transpostion and volume and sample offset to be controlled by degree and length independent of each other by knob control would be most appropriate
talk about a new dj tools!
there is no patent pending on this so grab it up abes
you can hire me in your concepts department if you want
