trouble multi-tracking with mbox

Im having trouble doing virtual multi tracking. I want to have tracks playing and then record a totally new track (however it records the old tracks playing with the new track onto that new track). I mean, my mbox is duplex, how do I get the new tracks isolated?

How are you routing the audio to your speakers after it leaves the M-box? What do you have plugged into it?

my outs go to my monitors and i have 1 mic going in.
