Anyone have any links on how to setup Live in for DJ'ing

Post by chewy » Mon Jul 31, 2006 12:47 am

I have a few, but does anyone know of one that will tell me in detail how to actually setup live from scratch to effectively setup a few channels + eq + crossfader + audio interface.

I am just looking for some ideas, maybe some screenshots.

Like I said, I have a few sites I have been looking at..just looking for more.

thank you kindly.

15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

Chewy: Maybe the book on Ableton Live from Chad carrier or the tips and tricks book from Martin Delaney can help you?

You literally need to click and drag an instance of EQ4 onto each track. Crossfader assign is easy - just select 'A' (fader left) on one track, and 'B' (fader right) on another. Use your mouse/midi controller to crossfade (show crossfader = View>Crossfader).

If you have an Audio interface with multiple outs, assign each track to a separate out on the interfce ("Audio to" drop-down on the track).

I'll post a srceen shot for you later, in the meantime:

Learn to "warp" tracks (warping ensures that the tracks will play in sync together - like beatmatching vinl/CD's):

Then, read this tutorial:

Start getting a bit creative with these techniques:

Finally, check this out:

The wiki is fantastic.

Now go, young grasshoppa - master the skillz, and soon, you will be DJ'ing with the best of 'em.
