Just in here are the specs just released at the key note (as of 10:AM PST):

64 bit

128 bit vector engine

large 4 MB shared L2 cache

up to 3 Ghz

all dual core

based on core 2 duo

woodcrest processors

old case - two optical drives

that's 256MB of video memory - the base model ships with 1GB ram

Same case? :( Well, at least my old one will look like a new one to the untrained eye! :P

How many fans in the new one? Does it go into DC-10 jet engine take-off mode in the August heat?

Added i/o on the front is pretty sweet.

Maybe in a couple years I'll upgrade. I love my G5. It's such a beast. It's never let me down. It'd be difficult to justify replacing it.

its been said that there is less cooling inside the box.

so i would assume that reads as "quieter"

The Xeons don't require the cooling that the G5s did. They've used the extra space for two additional hard drives.

yea, about the only thing that would stick out is 1 optical drive bay instead of 2.
