will v6 have sidechaining?
there isn't any excuse in the world that this program lacks this basic production feature
it has more flexable routing than any other but no sidechaining
please don't say clip emvelopes can do this

the most requested feature was apparently video. so they did in fact include the most needed and requested feauture.john gordon wrote:unfortunately they didnt include the most needed and requested feature in ver.6.if you ask me i think thats turtle poop.
what makes anyone expect a feature to get implimented when they ask for it? do you go to the native instruments site and make demands and expect them to jump right to work?
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Honestly, it would have been nice for Ableton to have included this, however:
I rarely use either of LIVE's compressors. So, I am perfectly happy using third party devices to accomplish this. And it can be done for free with SSS's sidechain compressor if you are on PC. And I believe that there was one just released for Mac for free as well.
So......
It isn't actually part of LIVE, but you can get along without it.

Video was just easy to implement, most people don't care, it's not a big deal. Those who use score for video find it really handy but it wasn't a 'major' feature for Live 6. There have been threads on peoples' view of video, with polls and whatnot, by and large the Ableholics are far more stoked on deep freeze and racks.Johnisfaster wrote:the most requested feature was apparently video. so they did in fact include the most needed and requested feauture.

During points of the beta development Henke was implementing feature requests like a madman. Fader curves were more requested than video and those made it in during beta, Sampler import features were improved and a few others.

Well for some of us video could make our lives much easier. It seems that side chain compressor is asked for all the time though. It is odd that it has not been put in even if it is just to bring all these posts to an end.john gordon wrote:fuk the video.its not even a feature most live users will ever use.everybody can use a proper sidechaining compressor.video!!!heh.you can take the video and throw it out the window as far as im concerned.

lol.exactly.it seems like it would be a easy thing to do.maybe the guys at ableton are like mad scientists everytime they see a sidechaining post.rubbing their hands together and grinning with a evil smirk across their faces.laughing out loud.Mike Goodwin wrote:Well for some of us video could make our lives much easier. Yep, and I've had good results with various Reaktor-based compressors. That said, if you're relying on sidechained compression to make your music pump, you should probably work harder on your choice of sounds. If your various bass sounds don't step all over each other then there's no need for fancy compression tricks, and the result will sound more solid. Unless you're going for the eurocheese sound, that is...
