and why shouldnt I? as far as performance goes, my G4 should be able to handle things for a year or so until i get money for a Mac Pro. Dudes and Dudets I'm so sick of Windows screwing up and hindering my work with music. So it dawned on me, I HAVE A MAC ALREADY, why not use it. So my studio is drastically changing. Got a mac book called "switching to the Mac" to get me started. But I ran into a glitch. My 002 is not being detected properly by the operating system. This is what I sent tech support at digidesign but thought wouldnt hurt to run it by you smart lads and lassys:

Other Digidesign and third party products used in the system:
Berklin USB 2.0 7-Port Hub and connecting into this: -2x2 M-Audio Midisport -M-Audio Axiom 25 key midi controller these three devices are showing up under "about this Mac/more info/hardware/USB" or called the USB Device Tree.

Please give a concise description of the problem:
Digi 002 interface is not being detected. When starting Protools a window pops up saying: "Digidesign hardware is in use by another application (-1133)" I click "ok" and protools shuts down(closes before getting into the program). No other application (that im aware of) is using the 002. i have Reason on my computer but its completly shut down. i even tried restarting the computer to make sure that no other programs were on but makes no difference.

Actions required to reproduce the problem:

Troubleshooting already attempted:
I read the Getting Started with Digi 002 under "Mac Configuration - Sys setting for Mac OSX" and did what it said. turned automatic update off etc. Then read the section on "Configuring AMS" in app B. When I opend up AMS this is what I see: IAC Driver icon(the "device is online box is left unchecked) Network icon 2x2 icon w/an I/O for A and B USB Axiom 25 icon w/ an I/O for 1 and just an In for 2 An icon that has a red question mark in the center on top of a what looks like a midi controller(could this be the 002?)

not sure if it affects the 002s, but i remember someone on another forum having trouble getting his mbox 1 running on tiger.

looks like you have tiger. check digi's site to see if you can get an updated driver for the 002 and make sure it is one that works with tiger. there were some pretty big changes in tiger having to do with audio and i have seen a lot of software that requires tiger, or old drivers that don't work on it.

i'm thinking you just need newer drivers/software. it seems like they didnt exactly make it clear that it was drivers, but a new dot something release of the protools is what had tiger support.

yeah i looked at their site, if my memory serves me it was like PT LE 7 is compatible with Tiger 10.4.whatever and not panther and older versions of LE did not support Tiger, because they were older than it and some of the audio stuff changed in the OS.

If you are running Tiger, you will need to be running Protools 6.9
There are no 6.7 002 Drivers for 10.4.+
