Laptop stands - do they exist?
Laptop stands - do they exist?
Playing out using Live is awesome, no doubt about that. Only problem is, we all look absolutely naff while doing so. Sure, we can always shake out booties to the beat, but when you're hunched over a laptop placed on a table that's entirely too low after a while you find yourself thinking not about what tweaks to make to let the crowd go wild, but instead about how much your back hurts. And when you're part of a band you can't really nip off and set up behind a DJ booth (especially when there's no DJ booth at the club...).
What do you guys use that keeps your lappie at a good performance height, but looks better than a folding picnic table? Are there any portable laptop stands on the market?

yea this is somethin i've wondered.. have allways been at the mercy of a venues tables and all that
last gig i supported a band in a bar - no dj box in sight - indeed table was too low..
a good lappy support should be really portable... i'd need a surface ideally big enough to support my laptop and microkontrol ... with space for mousing to the right of the lappy..
possibbly some sort of folding deck support i would imagine is the most likely option..

Thanks. What sucks about those is that you're still at the mercy of a table or a DJ booth. I can't believe no one's made a nice laptop stand with a sturdy tripo base and a large platform big enough to hold the computer and a small audio interface.dCross wrote:one option:

What about one of these:
Mounted on one of these:
See this website for details and check out the quiklok WS-550 series. Very nice. They're SUPER sturdy, and fold up smaller than those X shaped stands.

I have one of those ws-550's and like it a lot. Does anyone have any experience with any other of these add ons? It looks like you need another piece the WS562 to use the laptop rack. On the picture though, it looks like in order to use the WS562 the stand has to be out almost at a "t" shaped angle which may not work for my setup. Anyone know more?

You have to set it up so that the two furthest legs are in a capital "H" shape, but you can splay out the front two legs.tyson wrote:I have one of those ws-550's and like it a lot. It would look like this:
Only it would clip on at the centre of the WS-562 (the additional crossbar).
